Declutter for a cause

“I admit it, I’m a shopaholic. I have tons of stuff cluttering my closets including many still with the tags on. I was happy to give them to generosify.  I raised money for Huntington’s Disease research, a cause that’s very personal to me.”

– Denise Richboro, PA

Declutter for a cause

We promise, you’ll feel a weight lifted off your shoulders once you declutter, especially when you know the money is going to the charity of your choice. Out with the old makes room for the new!

The Steps:
  1. Go through your closet. If you haven’t worn it in a year, time to let go!
  2. Make a pile – here is what we accept
  3. Click “Donate” at the bottom of the page to arrange to send us your items. You will choose your charity there: pick one close to your heart.
  4. We will let you know when your sale is live. Watch money go towards the cause you care most about.
  5. You will receive quarterly updates and a tax receipt at the end of the year.

Declutter for a cause

“My book club recently read a heart-breaking book about childhood hunger. As moms, we were inspired to help. As a group, we collected over 30 items of clothing, donated them to generosify and raised money for No Kid Hungry.”

– Amrita New York, NY

Declutter as a Team

Want to take it to the next level? Encourage your friends to get in on the decluttering with you and raise even more money for your charity. Here is a sample letter you can send to a group of friends, family or co-workers to invite them to declutter their own closets and donate to your charity.  Click ”Donate” below to let us know to expect your larger collection and remember to keep your team motivated by sending reminders – your clan intends to give, they just forget (you know how it is!).

Accepted Items:

We accept women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, shoes and accessories. All items must be new or in excellent shape with no tears, holes or stains. We accept clothing by all well-known brands and designers. The range of brands goes from quality mall brands like The Gap, Banana Republic or Anthropologie to designers like Prada, Armani or Tory Burch.

We reserve the right to reject items based on brand or condition. If we think that some of your items will not sell, we will donate them to another nonprofit or to textile recycling.

Not one item you donate to generosify will end up in the landfill, we promise! We cannot return items to you so please try to only send items that we will be able to sell. Here is a more extensive list of brands we accept. Feel free to ask us if you have something to donate that is not on this list.
